Long before Patanjali introduces the ethical precepts of Yoga, he offers four down-to-earth suggestions for developing peaceful relationships with others as the foundation for a clear and serene mind. These four qualities of the heart, known as the Four Brahmavihara can be applied to all our relationships as a way of generating compassion for ourselves and others.

This live recording was made as a part of a Teleclass series, and while not of great sound quality because of the nature of international phone lines, has much to offer in terms of practical suggestions for implementing the qualities of heart in the often difficult medium of everyday life. Donna explores how opening the heart can become a radical tool for dismantling the false notion of separation. We begin this process by learning to befriend ourselves and expand our ability to keep the heart open in a progression of ever more challenging stages leading to the fourth quality of heart – learning to practice tolerance towards those that have harmed us.
