“When the mind is free from distraction, it is possible for all the mental processes to be involved in the object of enquiry. As one remains in this state, gradually one becomes totally immersed in the object. The mind, then, like a flawless diamond reflects only the features of the object and nothing else.” (Yoga Sutra I:40 translated by Desikachar)
In this talk we will use Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras as a starting point for understanding the nature of perception and how we observe our students. We will look at ways of structuring the observation process not only of the physical body but of the whole person. In this way we offer each other a tremendous gift: the gift of seeing clearly and the gift of being seen.
