Teacher Training

Donna is having a hiatus from the 21-day teacher training usually offered in New Zealand to give herself  time to archive important material in an online format. The first virtual modules are now available for students worldwide; please scroll down to the bottom of this page for details.

If you are seeking face-to-face teacher training, she would like to refer people to the excellent training that Mark O’Brien is offering in Sydney, Australia from Feb 3, 2019.

“In an era of short-form teacher trainings. Qi Yoga in Sydney, Australia has been holding their ground, offering one of the few 12 month part time Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Courses in Australasia. While there are a plethora of 200 hour courses, many of these trainings leave teachers woefully unprepared for the challenge of teaching and the highly competitive market that yoga has become.  This course offers participants a recognized national qualification and gives teachers the foundation to be ready to teach successfully and safely.  Both lead trainers Mark O’Brian and Joan Miller are remarkable teachers and truly caring human beings who have been long time students of my approach.  They both fully embrace a model for teaching that fosters self-inquiry, the student’s own inner reference system, and an anatomically safe approach to body movement.  Both Mark and Joan are devoted practitioners not only of the physical aspects of Yoga, but of the deeper teachings of Yoga which can best be learned from one who is living this path.  I highly recommend this training.”

Similarly, she would like to refer people to the excellent training that Lisa Petersen is offering in Dublin, Ireland .

“Lisa has been the lead co-teacher of my New Zealand teacher training and has an exceptional understanding of the pedagogic model that lies at the heart of this approach to teaching and learning.  While the content of her training is not a replica of my own, I am confident that people wanting to incorporate intelligent anatomical and kinesiological principles into their Yoga teaching will come away from her training with vastly improved resources to support their Yoga teaching.

Virtual Teacher Training courses by Donna

The first three of Donna’s virtual Teacher Training courses are now available online. With 8 hours of teaching, the third course, ‘Yoga for Lower Back Pain– Parts I & II: Keys to Sacroiliac Stability and Ease of Movement’, qualifies for 8 non-contact hour CEU’s with Yoga Alliance.

Each online course includes:

  • Videos
  • Powerpoint presentations
  • Recordings of all online Webinar sessions: It’s generally acknowledged that many people only retain 10-20 percent of what they learn in a workshop. You will get the recordings of both webinar sessions (both MP3 and MP4 videos), enabling you to go back, watch and listen to the workshop as many times as you like.
  • Transcripts of all sessions: Ever wanted to refer to a certain part of a course? Even the best note takers miss a point every so often. With the transcripts of the sessions, you can go back and refer to particularly important passages or clarify sections you were in doubt about.

The fourth course will be available late May 2019.
