The Yoga of Sensory Awareness
Donna Farhi

Is it possible to attend only part of the intensive?

Because we want to create the very best environment for learning, partial attendance is not permitted.   We do sometimes have participants who for work, family or travel arrangement reasons need to miss 1-2 sessions.  The cost of the intensive remains unchanged as you would otherwise be taking the place of someone who could attend the entire 4-1/2 days.  If you are travelling from out of town we strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance to cover such an eventuality.

Is there a discount if I only attend part of the Intensive?

We understand that circumstances may arise that delay your arrival or require you to leave earlier.  The cost of the intensive remains unchanged.

Can you hold a place for me while I decide?

Because there are only a limited number of places available, in fairness to everyone, we are unable to hold spaces.

Can I pay by installments?

We are unable to offer installments due to the structure of our online booking system. Paying by credit card enables you to pay your bank by installments.

I'm not very experienced, is it still suitable for me?

This 4-1/2 day intensive is for practitioners of Yoga and somatics with at least one years consistent personal practice.  This does not imply, however, that you need to be practicing challenging movements such as Headstand, Handstand or movements such as deep backbends, as this is not the focus of intensive study.

I'm pregnant, is it still suitable for me?

If there are no complications with your pregnancy and you were practicing Yoga prior to becoming pregnant, yes.  That said, even in the first trimester women can tire easily, so we encourage you to adapt and modify your involvement during class.  If you are in the second or third trimester, many supine and prone practices will no longer be appropriate.  We will either suggest adaptations and alternatives, or ask you to simply rest and observe if a practice is unsuitable.

Are meals included?

No, however, there is a small kitchen with a fridge and a microwave, plus tea and coffee making facilities.  We highly recommend bringing a packed lunch every day.  We will have a selection of teas, milk, and bio cups for your use.

If you are opting to stay for the 4 nights, each flat has a kitchen, which means if you come prepared with provisions you can make your breakfast, lunch and dinner on site.  Or there are nearby cafes, restaurants and supermarkets within 15 minutes walking distance.

What time does each class start and finish each day?

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the official start time of each class:

Friday, 04 October 6:30-8:30pm

Saturday, 05 October 10:00-1:00pm; break for lunch (BYO) then 2:30-5:00pm

Sunday, 06 October 10:00-1:00pm; break for lunch (BYO) then 2:30-5:00pm

Monday, 07 October 10:00-1:00pm; break for lunch (BYO) then 2:30-5:00pm

Tuesday, 08 October 10:00-1:00pm; break for lunch (BYO) then 2:30-5:00pm

What will I need to bring?

- 1 yoga mat
- 2 firm blankets (wool or cotton are best)
- A bolster if you have one
- 1 yoga block (brick-shaped rather than tile-shaped)

- 1 yoga belt
- 1 thick bath towel

- 1 thin hand towel
18cm Muscle Release Ball or Gertie Ball (you can purchase the muscle release ball from www.embodiedwisdom.pub)
- A week or two before event, we will send you a list of handouts to download and bring to the intensive

Please note:  If you are flying in from out-of-town and cannot bring all your props, please contact our office at sonnyw@donnafarhi.co.nz. We will have a yoga prop package at the venue when you arrive.  Please sign in when you receive the package, and we’ll ask you to sign out everything that you’ve borrowed at that end of the last session.

I don't have some of the items on the list, what can I do?

We do recommend that you purchase items you do not already have as these will help you continue many of the practices that you’ve learned at the intensive.  However, we will have some extra props at the venue in the form of blankets, bolsters, blocks, belts, eye bags, and MR balls.

I'm not from Christchurch, can you help me with getting there or sharing accommodation?

Aside from the 6 rooms in the flat at Rangi Ruru, we are unable to advise you in terms of transport or accommodation as we are not a travel agency. However, we will open a Facebook page for this event where you may be able to coordinate car pooling with other travellers, or connect with others who may want to share a hotel room or airbnb property.

Where exactly is the venue?

The Helen Kitson Function Room is just off Rhodes St., Merivale.
